Cleaning & Lubricating Your Cylinder Mower
Cleaning and Lubricating your Mower
Sparkle Sparkle! Yes everyone wants to have a nice shiny mower but at what cost? I've seen a lot of Instagrammers hosing their mowers down after each mow or even applying the boat foam and i think why? Yes protecting your paint is important, but at the end of the day these machines are a tool to help you achieve a mint lawn. Removing excess grass and grease is important but lubrication and ensuring the longevity of your parts is far more important than aesthetics.
Tips to cleaning your mower:
- Air compressor or Blower Vac after each mow
- Damp towel
- Inox MX3 Lanolin on the cutting reel (if desired)
- Paint scraper for the caked on grass on the reel
Regular lubrication of thrust pads and chains are important. For the Thrust Pads most lubricants are sufficient and some is better than none, chain lube, Inox, Wd 40 is all sufficient. We recommend apply aa quick after mowing as the heat from the components ensures thorough lubrication and it also means you are ready to go at the start of each mow. With regards to Chain Lube we prefer the WD-40 Spray and Stay or CRC TAC-2 brand with a tacing agent in it. It stops the chains flinging all the oil/lubricant off and ensures longevity of the lubricant. It can be picked up for about $16 at your local Bunnings

REMEMBER: WATER YOUR LAWN & NOT YOUR MOWER
